October 16, 2002: BCHFS was awarded as an “angel” for its work with pregnant, unwed women and girls. Rep. John Shimkus presented Carla Donoho, Director of maternity, foster care and adoption at Baptist Children's Home & Family Services, an Angels in Adoption award for her continual work in Illinois.

Each year the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute invites the members of Congress to recognize those individuals who have made a difference in the lives of children. Congress recognized these individuals and agencies by giving them the Congressional Angels in Adoption Award.
